Oh You Beauty!: Goals of the Week of 2/2/2015

5. Hector Bellerin vs Aston Villa

This is a classic “worm burner” goal. Extremely pacey shot flat along the ground. It needed to be a pacey shot, because it somehow finds it’s way past everybody in the penalty box and past the Villa keeper.

4. Daniel Sturrdige vs West Ham United

After an injury blighted season, Daniel Sturridge shows just why he is one of the most feared strikers in the Premier League. Twelve minutes into returning from a five month injury spell, Sturridge receives a great through ball from Phil Coutinho and beats the keeper near post. Sturridge adds the biggest thing this Liverpool squad has been lacking, goals.

3. Jonjo Shelvey vs Southampton

Jonjo Shelvey is one of those players who may never fulfill the huge potential that was seen in him when he was younger. That being said, he is certainly a player that pops up with incredible class out of nowhere. This is one of those examples. In a game that seemed deadlocked as a nil-nil draw, Shelvey cracks a goal from outside the box past the tightest defense in the league.

2. Karim Benzema vs Real Sociedad

Karim Benzema continues to show just what a top class striker he is. With rumors mounting of Benzema being available for transfer, his magnificent curling goal is certainly making the case for him to remain at Real Madrid.

1. Uroš Đurđević vs Ajax

This was a goalazo and a half. The close control. The finishing. The fact that Đurđević was able to score the goal without the ball hitting the ground once. I’m not sure if we’ll see a better goal this season.
