Cristiano Ronaldo donates $8 million to Nepal earthquake relief

Cristiano Ronaldo is no stranger to being a humanitarian. Whether it’s donating to other causes helping natural disaster victims or with sick children, Ronaldo is as good a humanitarian as he is a soccer player. His latest humanitarian effort is donating close to $8 million to the charity “Save the Children” in their efforts to save and help victims of the recent Nepal earthquakes.

The first earthquake took place in April and reportedly killed 8,259 and injured 19,009. The latest earthquake took place yesterday and killed at least 121 and injured at least 2,754.

Not only did Ronaldo donate to the effort, he tweeted to his 35 million Twitter followers and posted to his 102 million Facebook followers asking them to donate to the cause as well.

It’s times like these that famous people can utilize social media for good. Ronaldo may be donating $8 million but will likely raise even more by promoting the cause to so many people. Hopefully his efforts can help many people over in Nepal who need the help.

On the field, Ronaldo’s Real Madrid is facing Juventus in the 2nd leg of the Champions League today. Juventus leads 2-1 while Real Madrid has the away goal. The winner will face Barcelona in the Final.
