Aston Villa has had some rough times in recent years. Once the team poised to be a comfortable top half of the table team, has now been in the depths of trying to survive and not get relegated. This past season saw the goal scoring antics of Christian Benteke in the beginning but would be plagued with injuries throughout the season. Apart from shock wins against Arsenal in the beginning of the season, Manchester City in September and Chelsea in March, Villa’s season would be a rather forgettable one.
The beginning of the season spells trouble for Aston Villa. Starting in September, they must play a murderers row of games against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton. It could be an entire month of games where Villa isn’t favored to score a point. This may cause some tougher times for the people of Birmingham. Regardless, Villa should comfortably stay in the EPL but it’ll be another season of being in the lower half of the table.
The glimmer of hope for Villa fans is that owner Randy Lerner said that he would look into selling the team. For Aston Villa fans, one can only hope that the next owner will invest some more money into the team.
