VIDEO: Burnley/W Brom and Newcastle/Stoke have shockingly good games

I’m not going to lie, seeing Burnley vs. West Brom and Newcastle vs. Stoke on the schedule at 7 AM and 9 AM respectively, it was a tough ask to get me out of bed early on a Sunday morning to see these games. If you got up at 7 AM or 4 AM on the west coast to watch Burnley and West Brom play, you are a diehard fan.

Burnley vs. West Brom

The great thing is that you were rewarded for your lack of sleep. The two teams uncharacteristically had a great, high scoring game which included a comeback.

Burnley made it 1-0 with a nice assist from Danny Ings who flicked the ball over to Ashley Barnes in the 11th minute.

Ings then took care of himself as he headed home a George Boyd cross to make it 2-0 after 32 minutes.

West Brom had a little bit of confidence and hope right before halftime. Set pieces got West Brom back into it. Chris Brunt headed the corner kick into the goal to be within a goal right before halftime.

West Brom then completed the comeback and equalized with another corner kick. Brown Ideye with the goal and both teams ended up with a point.

Newcastle vs. Stoke

Newcastle and Stoke had a slow beginning, and a slow middle. But boy did they make up for it in the end.

In the 75th minute, we finally got our first goal of the game. It was actually the only goal of the six in these two games that wasn’t a header. Moussa Sissoko laid the ball off to Jack Colback and Colback grabbed the lead at St. James Park. Many were hoping that was the only goal of the day but…yeah.

Peter Crouch does what Peter Crouch does best and that’s scoring headers. He grabbed the equalizer late in stoppage time after a Geoff Cameron cross to get the point for Stoke.
