VIDEO: Giovinco and Altidore begin MLS season with terrific assist and goal

Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore got some big press when it was announced they would be coming to play in MLS for Toronto FC. Altidore last played in MLS when he was 19 and now he’s back after a lackluster EPL career at 25. Giovinco has been in Italy his entire career and came to MLS after not getting much playing time with Juventus. Both came here with chips on their shoulders from their European experiences and have a lot of pressure to perform in MLS after signing for some crazy money compared to the rest of the League.

If their first MLS regular season game of the year is any indication, they are going to make for a great partnership for Toronto and MLS and will no doubt be worth their contracts. Take a look at this pass from Giovinco to set up Altidore and Altidore’s discipline in the box as he found his moment to shoot and score.

Altidore wouldn’t have done that at Sunderland, he would’ve gone for the first shot or completely whiff on the ball. It’s only been a short period of time but Jozy Altidore has already become a better player by coming back to MLS.
