Which EPL Managers Are On the Hot Seat?

Manuel Pellegrini – Manchester City

Yes, the team who is sitting 3rd in the EPL table may make a change. To Man City, they view the Champions League as more important and that is going to determine if Pellegrini keeps his job. They currently are in a three-way tie for the 2nd spot in their Champions League group and he is essentially managing for his job against Roma in the final game. Either way, I can’t see Manchester City sacking Pellegrini during the season, but if City loses to Roma in a few weeks, it’s going to be “dead man walking” for the rest of the season.

Likeliness of replacement – 40% but will go up or down once we find out if Man City advances to Champions League knockout stage.

Brendan Rodgers – Liverpool

Liverpool has said that Brendan Rodgers’ job is safe but Rodgers doesn’t believe it and neither do too many other people. Liverpool has experienced many issues this season that they couldn’t control but they also have issues that they could control. Rodgers’ new signings haven’t been rather impressive as a whole and his perceived coddling of Mario Balotelli has seemed cause him to lose control of the team. The team that was supposed to compete for the top 4 is now struggling to even get into the top half of the table. Rodgers does have Daniel Sturridge in his back pocket so theoretically, the team should be better once Sturridge finally comes back from injury. The only problem is that if Sturridge even shows the hint of struggling, the hot seat is going to get even hotter.

Likeliness of replacement – 15%

Mauricio Pochettino – Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham is one step above Liverpool. They’re struggling and have issues, just like Liverpool. But unlike Liverpool, Tottenham seems to be able to score goals. Tottenham have been on both sides of 2-1 games in the last four games and Tottenham also gave Southampton one of their only two losses (Liverpool, ironically was the other). Having said that, I can’t see Pochettino losing his job at this point but you never know. While I’m sure Tottenham and their fans would love to see Spurs in a higher position, Pochettino has done enough at this point to still be there.

Likeliness of replacement – 5%

Arsene Wenger – Arsenal

There have been calls for Arsene Wenger to go after Arsenal’s inherent lack of drive in both the EPL and in Champions League. I’ll make this easy for people, Arsenal has already clinched a Champions League knockout stage spot. If Arsenal makes top four, which they still have a great chance to do, Arsenal isn’t sacking Wenger.

Likeliness of replacement – 1%
