Video: Jon Obi Mikel Equalizes for Chelsea

Jon Obi Mikel! The ageless wonder. For all the turnover that there’s been at Stamford Bridge over the years, all the players and managers that have come and gone, there has always been Jon Obi Mikel, seemingly always coming off the bench for Chelsea.

Thrust into the starting XI for the suspended Nemanja Matic, Mikel was the victim of Chelsea fans ire in the first half when his tackle and subsequent booking set up Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s opening goal off the ensuing free kick.

It didn’t take long for Mikel to get back into the good graces of fans though. Chelsea would get a late corner to end the first half and when Baba Rahman’s corner somehow fell to Mikel, he calmly smashed into the net for a rare goal. More importantly for Chelsea, the goal evened things up in Paris and gave the London club a crucial away goal in the tie.
