Christiano Ronaldo made headlines in the build-up to today’s match against AS Roma in the Champions League. He walked out on a press conference after being asked about his poor away goal record in recent months. Ronaldo was criticised by many for acting a bit arrogant in answer the question before walking off.
In the second half against Roma, however, the Madrid superstar had something more to say about his away goal record. After running along the left flank, Ronaldo cut in on his right foot and put the ball in the top corner, beyond the reach of Wojciech Szczęsny.
How’s THAT for an away goal? @Cristiano gives Real Madrid the lead with a beauty! @HeinekenSoccer #UCL #UCLonFOX https://t.co/8WQFcNmisI

The goal also happened to be Madrid’s first shot on target for the entire match. It was also the first shot on target for either team. The first half had played out relatively safely, with neither team taking too many chances.
Madrid now has a coveted away goal to take back with them to Madrid. While Roma is trying desperately to make sure they don’t go to the Santiago Bernabéu down a goal.
