Bayern Munich had their chances. Xabi Alonso scored on a free kick in the first half but just minutes later Thomas Muller missed a penalty and Bayern Munich went to halftime of the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semifinal against Atletico Madrid ahead just 1-0 and more importantly level on aggregate.
When you play against Atletico Madrid you have to take advantage of the chances you get, because you won’t get many. Bayern had pulled back the goal they conceded last week to even things up, but you had to think one goal wouldn’t be enough. Atletico were going to score one eventually, the only question was where would it come from.
Just nine minutes after halftime, it was Atletico’s star man Antoine Griezmann who answered that question, when he got on the end of a fantastic through ball from Fernando Torres to put the Spanish side ahead.
