Watch: Daniel Sturridge scores late goal to give England 2-1 win over Wales

England knows how Wales feels. After conceding a late goal against Russia in their opening match, England created a little late drama of their own in today’s 2-1 win over Wales.   Daniel Sturridge scored deep into stoppage time to give his side a big 3 points as they are now top of group B.

England went down 1-0 at halftime and was unable to generate a lot of offense in that half. A few smart substitutions by Roy Hodgson, including bringing on Sturridge, helped give England a more potent attack. Sturridge was brought on for Raheem Sterling who did more to prevent England from scoring more often than the Welsh defense it seemed.

Sturridge’s give and go late in the match was a good show of skill from the Liverpool forward who navigated through the defenders to get off a shot that found the back of the net. It was the first time in England’s history that they won a match after trailing at halftime in a major tournament.
