It didn’t take long for Bayern Munich to get going. For all the talk of a new manager and a potential Borussia Dortmund title challenge Bayern Munich set out to silence any doubters in their Bundesliga opener.
The German champs opened the season at home against Werder Bremen and immediately put the Bremen goal under siege. It took the Bavarians just over eight minutes to get their breakthrough courtesy of a Xabi Alonso half-volley. Just four minutes later it was talisman Robert Lewandowski opening his account, doubling Bayern’s lead and putting the rest of Germany on notice.
