Bobby Wood continued his fine form at the start of the second half when he brought the USMNT back level with Mexico. The Hamburg striker equalized just minutes after the restart and seems to have cemented his place as the USMNT’s number one striker.
Wood took advantage of some sloppy defending when he split the Mexico centerbacks and fired home a shot from in close. A good run and pass from Jozy Altidore gave the Hawaii native a chance to run in at the heart of Mexico’s defense. Switching to a 4-4-2 has helped the US in the second half after a shaky first.
