Watch: Yaya Toure scores twice in his first Premier League start of the year

Yaya Toure has not enjoyed his time at Manchester City this season as he’s had a bit of a falling out with manager Pep Guardiola. The Ivorian midfielder looked to have played his last game with City. However, to the surprise of many, Guardiola choose Toure to start against Crystal Palace today.

It turned out to be an inspired choice. City picked up a 2-1 win against Palace and their hero for the day was Toure. He opened the scoring in the first half with a thunderous shot into the roof of the net. Palace equalized in the second half and looked like they might grab a point. Guardiola was saved another disappointment though when Toure scored his second of the day with ten minutes to go.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Toure gets more game time as a result. It would be hard to justify not at least giving the 33-year-old a few more opportunities.
