As the year winds to a close now is a time where people tend to look back on the highlights of the past year. If you are one of those people trying to compile a list of the best goals world football has produced this season, please stop what you’re doing right away and check out Douglas Costa’s goal for Bayern Munich today. You may have to rethink your entire list.

Darmstadt had done a great job holding Bundelisga leaders Bayern Munich over the first 70 minutes of their match Sunday, until they conceded a late free kick. On a team with match winners all over the field, it was Douglas Costa who stepped up, unleashing a tremendous left footed blast that swerved back to the top left corner, going off the bar and into the net to give Bayern the win, and keep them level with RB Leipzig ahead of their huge meeting on Wednesday.

Goals just don’t get much better than that.
