Goal line technology is being used for the first time ever at a FIFA Women’s World Cup, and it came in rather handy on Tuesday afternoon. Mexico put major pressure on Colombia’s defense thanks to a series of great corner kicks, with the third and final one finally getting the ball beyond the goal line.
It was a beautifully whipped ball that tricked the keeper and was pushed beyond the line for a goal. However it wasn’t clear at first glance and goal line technology buzzed the official on the field to confirm the goal — a first for this competition.
