Champions League playoff draw provides some intriguing matchups

The final UEFA Champions League playoff draw was conducted this morning and the winners of these matchups will fill out the rest of the group stage lineup in the Champions League.

Some pretty good and well known teams were in this Champions League round. Teams like Manchester United, Celtic, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco are all here trying to get into the group stage.

Here is the draw. Some teams look to have a much easier draw than others but there are some pretty good matchups.

Manchester United gets to go to Belgium face Club Brugge. As far as the draw goes, Man United was pretty fortunate with this draw. Celtic also gets a fortunate draw by facing Sweden’s Malmo.

There are three matchups I’m looking forward to and they look to be the highlights of the playoff round. Lazio, who haven’t been in Champions League since the 2007-08 season faces Bayer Leverkusen in this Serie A/Bundesliga matchup. Sporting Lisbon and CSKA Moscow will provide a close match where it will be highly difficult for the away team to score. And then, the cap it all off, arguably the best matchup of the round, Valencia will play Monaco. Games are just a couple weeks away and then we will be back into the thick of the continental season. We’re almost there.
