We all know the story of Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy by now. Playing at 8th level amateur side Stocksbridge Park Steels and then to FC Halifax Town in the same league. Then Vardy got onto a Football League team with Fleetwood Town and ultimately to Leicester City, then in the Championship.
Now, Vardy and Leicester City have become the darlings of the English Premier League. After lounging in last place in the Premier League at this time last season, Leicester City and Vardy are now first in the EPL and Vardy tied Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring a goal in 10 straight EPL games. Today, against Manchester United, in a 1 vs. 2 matchup, he broke that record and now has 11 and counting.
In the 24th minute, after Christian Fuchs put up a great through pass to Vardy, getting around Matteo Darmian, Vardy was one-on-one with David de Gea and did what he has done the last 10 games, he scored and put Leicester City up 1-0 over United in this important game.
Now Vardy is facing even bigger history and going for the overall English record. ESPN’s Paul Carr posted that a goal next Saturday against Swansea will equal the overall English record set by Jimmy Dunne in the 1931-32 season.
Jamie Vardy is the first player to score in 11 straight English first-division games since Blackpool’s Stan Mortensen in 1950-51.

Win or lose today, this has definitely been a storybook time for Jamie Vardy and for Leicester City. Eventually the goals and the points will dry up but they certainly are enjoying it now while they can.
