I am just as shocked as you are, Stoke City scored two quick goals via Xherdan Shaqiri to Marko Arnautovic and Stoke is up on Manchester City at halftime. The result of actual beautiful play not seen in these parts of England by the home team in a long time.
Goal number one was the result of Shaqiri faking out Aleksandar Kolarov and crossing it to Arnautovic, who drilled the ball into the top of the goal.
Stoke’s second goal again went from Shaqiri to Arnautovic as Shaqiri went up through the middle this time. Shaqiri sent a through ball past three Man City players to Arnautovic, who calmly finished to go 2-0.
This is definitely a shock to the system for Manchester City. Yes, they are in Stoke but both teams had to play midweek so there’s no advantage. And while Manchester City had 58% possession at the half, Stoke were the ones who did the most of it.
