It was a thrilling day at the Olympiastadion in Berlin as England came back from two goals down to beat Germany 3-2 in a friendly to gear up for Euro 2016. A team who is sometimes overly reliant on established talent that may or may not be past their prime, it was England’s younger and in-form stars who took the reigns and got them the victory.
England’s first goal was in the 61st minute with Harry Kane doing a “Cruyff turn” to make it 2-1.
Their second came 13 minutes later as Nathaniel Clyne crossed the ball into Jamie Vardy and Vardy backheeled it into the back of the net.
Then, in stoppage time, England took the lead on a rather forceful Eric Dier header off of the corner kick. Manuel Neuer and the German team didn’t know what hit them and England scored three goals in 33 minutes to get the come from behind win.
Now this shouldn’t necessarily be a cause for concern for Germany, they played strong and really held things together all game. For England, this is a pretty good start as they are gearing up for the Euros this summer. The players seem to be in form and ready to take on the best in Europe. Now if only Roy Hodgson actually chooses the right players, England may be a formidable foe this summer.
