Oh You Beauty!: Top 5 Goals of the Week 10/19/2014

1) Xabi Alonso vs. Werder Bremen

Probably 95% of free kick goals are a result of someone shooting the ball over the wall and into the goal. This free kick defied logic and Xabi Alonso decided to go under the wall to trick everyone and get the goal. Bayern Munich went on to defeat Werder Bremen 6-0.

2) Oscar vs. Crystal Palace

This is the normal free kick goal that we’re used to see but this goal was still impressive. Oscar broke the deadlock against Crystal Palace with this goal and Chelsea won yet again.

3) Mohamed Diame vs. Arsenal

Mohamed Diame looked like an NFL Running Back going through defenders and scoring a touchdown. Diane took on three Arsenal players, got through them and calmly chipped the ball past Wojciech Szczesny for the equalizer.

4) Santiago Vergini own goal for Southampton

Santiago Vergini may be a defender but he sure seemed like he was taking some shooting practice this week. With the finishing skill along the likes of Messi, Vergini scored the first goal for Southampton which wound up being a 8-0 romp.

5) Coutinho vs. QPR

This was a very “interesting” game. After a bunch of seemingly impossible misses from QPR in the first half, the scoring dam broke in the 67th minute with an own goal for Liverpool. Liverpool won 3-2 but this was the only goal they scored. A few minutes after QPR scored an equalizer, Coutinho took it upon himself to score what he thought was the winner in the 90th minute. A great, low angled shot which took a deflection and into the goal. QPR wound up scoring two more goals in the remaining stoppage time but one of those was another own goal and Liverpool won 3-2 by scoring once.
