News Summary
This week saw six points to launch Portland into the playoff chase, Boston is still on the brink of playoff elimination, and the inability of Washington to secure a playoff spot.
- The top four teams in the league make the playoffs. Seattle and Chicago have all but clinched. Washington’s loss puts four teams into competition for 2 spots while not a single team are eliminated.
- Big games this Wednesday. Four games in an all day marathon capped off by Houston-Seattle, a clash of top teams led by top USMNT stars.
- Portland Thorns FC acquired the rights to midfielder Lianne Sanderson and a 2016 first-round draft pick from Seattle Reign FC in exchange for Portland’s 2016 first-round and third-round draft picks.
- The season is about 3/4 of the way over, and every team is still in it. A great league marked by parity thus far.

- Boston just cannot wait for this season to be over. Portland, on the other hand, rebounded nicely from poor recent form.

- Washington’s Crystal Dunn had ELEVEN shots on goal, five on target, and no goals. Bad luck for the Spirit, but great fighting back for Boston to salvage this win.
