Manchester City is clearly not winning the EPL anymore, who will we all jinx now?

For the first month of the English Premier League season, everyone was inclined to hand Manchester City the trophy even though there is still eight months of league play left. Now that Manchester City lost two EPL games in a row, despite the fact that they’re still one point out of the lead, it’s clear that in this “hot take” society, Manchester City is clearly not winning the title anymore. So having said that, maybe it’s time to jinx some other team who is hot right now.

You don’t have to travel that far to see who the hottest team is in the English Premier League right now. Manchester United has been on fire recently. After defeating rivals Liverpool and the emergence and reemergence of both Anthony Martial and David de Gea to the team, Man United has been nearly unstoppable in the Premier League. It’s natural to now award them the EPL title after just seven games and jinx them. Chelsea is struggling, Liverpool was struggling until this past weekend, Manchester City is struggling even though they’re in 2nd, Arsenal is doing okay but they aren’t on Man United’s level and a loss to United this weekend will put them six points back. Manchester United is running on all cylinders at the moment and want to get all the points they can.

Now I say this all in jest. There is still a long way to go in this season. And just like Manchester City struggling now and any other team in the Premier League, Manchester United will struggle at some point this season. And given the closeness of teams in the table, if Manchester United were to win the title, they’ll probably drop out of first place at some point.

But even though Manchester United will struggle at some point, many people are going to not learn from the Manchester City lesson and hand over the title to United. I’m not saying either Manchester team will not win the title, but I’m willing to wait until at least halfway in the season before awarding someone the title.
