Watch: Christian Benteke puts Liverpool in the lead and channels his inner LeBron

Jürgen Klopp opted to start Divock Origi in place of Belgian striker Christian Benteke today. Origi didn’t last long, however, and he was subbed out late in the first half after picking up a hamstring injury. Benteke came on with the game still scoreless and didn’t have much of an impact until shortly after the hour mark.

Some nice play out wide between Emre Can and Roberto Firmino gave the ex-Hoffenheim man room to fire in a low cross. Benteke, doing what he does best, lunged out with his right foot and poked the ball in behind Kasper Schmeichel. The goal was Benteke’s fifth Premiere League goal for Liverpool this season.

It was a stylish goal, and Benteke decided to celebrate in style. After scoring, Benteke ran off and celebrated with LeBron James’ trademark celebration. That will surely make James, who owns a minority stake in the club, very happy. Though perhaps Benteke is just trying to score some Cavs tickets.
