Today’s press conference about FIFA reform got off to a rather amusing start as comedian Lee Nelson (real name is Simon Brodkin) crashed into FIFA’s meeting to prank Sepp Blatter by “making it rain” on him.
Brodkin disguised himself as a North Korea delegate and told Blatter as he casually walked up to the stage, “Sepp, this is for North Korea 2026. Thank you very much.” Joke’s on him, the earliest North Korea can bid for a World Cup is 2034 due to Qatar hosting in 2022.
After security was incredibly slow and relaxed to get to Brodkin, he was able to get most of what he wanted to say in before throwing up a stack of $1 bills in the air. Blatter looked worried and disgusted. Probably because he didn’t know what a $1 bill was. After security took Brodkin away, Blatter left by saying, “This has nothing to do with football,” as people cleaned up. I don’t know, it kind of looks like life imitating art in the hills of Zurich.
This too.
