When you’ve dedicated your life to playing a game, it is hard to take yourself out of the action. It’s perhaps the thing most players struggle with the worst after making the decision to retire. The itch to play again always seems to creep in — whether we’re talking a soccer legend or NFL quarterback seeking one last shot at glory.
For former Celtic and Swedish national team star Henrik Larsson, that itch to stay involved has turned in to managing Swedish club Helsingborg. On Wednesday, that itch to play came in handy as the manager subbed himself in to play at the half of a training match. He went on to score the final goal in the 7-1 win for his side.
