Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain kicked off the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League in a match with no shortage of storylines. The two sides had previously met in the 2014 quarterfinals as well as the round of 16 last year with each team winning one.
With Chelsea entering the match with major injuries on defense, as well as holding midfielder Nemanja Matic missing via suspension it was always going to be a tough task for Chelsea to contain PSG’s high octane attack that features Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Angel di Maria.
The match started out as everyone expected, with PSG controlling all the possession and attacking often. Chelsea would get a chance eventually when Diego Costa got his head on the end of a Baba Rahman cross, but PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp was there to brilliantly deny Chelsea of a vital away goal.
