Open chances against the reigning World Cup champions in the first few minutes of a knockout stage game? Dream come true, right?

That dream turned in to a nightmare scenario for the Netherlands against Japan in the final round of 16 matchup in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. After putting pressure on the Japanese side early on, the Netherlands created a huge breakaway chance. Only, that chance was squandered in the most blooper, #NotTop10, Not “The 1” moment ever:

Anyone up for some Yakety-Sax music for this treatment?

Even worse, Japan decided to end the early deadlock with a goal of their own just a few minutes later.
