WATCH: Argentina’s Lavezzi heads home opener in 3rd minute

The United States men’s national team came in to the game against Argentina as a 6-1 underdog and it took all of three minutes to find out exactly why.

After the USMNT defense was stretched out it conceded a corner, which was promptly taken short and caught the defense somewhat off guard. It took Messi just seconds to pounce and hit a perfectly weighted ball to Ezequiel Lavezzi.

He would find Brad Guzan caught in no-man’s land and unable (or unwilling) to commit to coming out or sticking back in the net. What resulted was a 1-0 Argentina lead and Guzan looking completely helpless.
