It was always going to be tough for Wolfsburg to go to Madrid and hold on to their 2-0 lead with Real Madrid. Especially since Real have been a completely different team at home then they have been away from the friendly confines of the Bernabau.
With Madrid down 2-0 they would have to come out attacking against a team more then happy to sit back and try to hit Madrid on the break. The only problem for Wolfsburg is they’d be letting a team with Cristiano Ronaldo come and attack them.
This just seemed like the kind of game Ronaldo would leave his stamp on. He’d score some early goals and before you knew it Real would be right back in the tie.
Well that’s exactly what happened as Ronaldo struck twice within two minutes.
