Watch: Luka Modric volleys in Croatia’s first goal at EURO 2016

If Croatia is going to make an impact at this Summer’s EURO competition they’ll need big performances from some of their big names. Fortunately for Croatia, in their group D opening match against Turkey Luka Modric stepped up big in the first half.

A poor clearance from the Turkey defense seemed to float in the air forever and gave Modric time to run in from midfield to meet it. When the ball dropped, the Real Madrid midfielder met it and hit a thunderous volley that bounced just before Babacan, the Turkish keeper.

The goal was Modric’s 12 career goal for his country.
