It was always going to be a tough task for AS Roma to come back from two goals down away from home in the second leg of their Round of 16 tie with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. The Romans would need to attack to get back in the tie, while playing cautiously enough not to let Real Madrid blow the whole thing open.
They did a good job of that for the first hour, but couldn’t quite score anything themselves. Then, just like in the first leg, Real Madrid got their breakthrough via Cristiano Ronaldo. Following Ronaldo’s goal, things opened up a bit more, and shortly thereafter, Real Madrid came flying down the field on a counter attack where Ronaldo laid the ball off to James, who did a fantastic job finishing from a tight angle.
