It’s been a game that has suited Atletico far more than Barcelona, as neither side has been able to play with much rhythm. It’s little surprise then that the visitors from the Spanish capital were the ones to open the scoring.
Almost symbolically it was Fernando Torres, Atleti’s favorite son, who put the ball into the back of the net. Torres slipped between two Barca defenders who seemingly fell asleep and let Torres in on goal. Torres finished well, but his goal seems to have excited him a little too much. The Spaniard has since picked up a second yellow and will now watch the rest of the match from the dressing room.
