32 Flags 2015-16 EPL Fantasy Recap – Week 5

During every week of the English Premier League, we will provide an EPL fantasy recap the day after the final EPL game of the weekend as well as a preview the day before.

Week 5 means that everyone has gotten back into the rhythm after the international break and the season can roll on.  The 32 Flags fantasy league is here and there is a pretty good fight at the top. As always, every week, we will recognize the person who had the best score every week as well as the top person in the table.

This week, the team of the week belongs to John Duran with My Little Kone John scored 61 points thanks to making West Ham’s Dimitri Payet his captain. With 2 goals and a clean sheet, he got 32 points as captain. Huge performance there.

Now onto our writers, we will go from best to worst.

1) Jeff – 19th place (-2 positions) – 39 points this week – 207 points total

GK – Lukasz Fabianski – Swansea – 3
DEF – John Stones – Everton – 1
DEF – Phil Jagielka – Everton – 2
DEF – Aleksandar Kolarov – Manchester City – 9
DEF – Joel Ward – Crystal Palace – 0
DEF – Angelo Ogbonna – West Ham – 1
MID – Yaya Toure (captain) – Manchester City – 4
MID – Santi Cazorla – Arsenal – 8
MID – Cheikhou Kouyate – West Ham – 3
FW – Harry Kane – Tottenham – 2
FW – Christian Benteke – Liverpool – 6

Jeff got hit hard with injuries with Joel Ward and Angelo Ogbonna getting hurt and are out. Another Manchester City clean sheet meant some great points for Kolarov as well as a goal from Benteke salvaged a somewhat respectable total.

2) Josh E. – 20th place (+8 positions) – 51 points this week – 204 points total

GK – Joe Hart – Manchester City – 6
DEF – Vincent Kompany – Manchester City – 6
DEF – Phil Jagielka – Everton – 2
DEF – Aleksandar Kolarov – Manchester City – 9
DEF – Wes Morgan – Leicester City – 2
MID – Eden Hazard (captain) – Chelsea – 4
MID – Santi Cazorla – Arsenal – 8
MID – Riyad Mahrez – Leicester City – 11
MID – Marc Albrighton – Leicester City – 1
FW – Bafetimbi Gomis – Swansea – 2
FW – Diego Costa – Chelsea – 2

Josh had a great total and really moved up the standings. Taking advantage of the cheap but steadily more expensive Riyad Mahrez and clean sheets by the Manchester City guys saw Josh move up solidly into the top half of the table.

3) Evan – 26th place (-6 positions) – 28 points this week – 195 points total

GK – Tim Krul – Newcastle United – 1
DEF – Neil Taylor – Swansea – 2
DEF – Luke Shaw – Manchester United – 2
DEF – Wes Morgan – Leicester City – 1
DEF – Laurent Koscielny – Arsenal – 7
MID – Nacer Chadli – Tottenham – 3
MID – Yaya Toure (captain) – Manchester City – 4
MID – Marc Albrighton – Leicester City – 1
MID – Dusan Tadic – Southampton – 3
FW – Callum Wilson – AFC Bournemouth – 2
FW – Harry Kane – Tottenham – 2

NOTE: Tim Krul and Laurent Koscielny were automatically substituted Sergio Romero and Gary Cahill.

Evan had himself a rather rough go of it. Koscielny was a bright spot but that was about it.

4) Andy – 27th place (-4 positions) – 31 points this week – 194 points total

GK – Joe Hart – Manchester City – 6
DEF – Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea – 1
DEF – Martin Skrtel – Liverpool – 1
DEF – Chris Smalling – Manchester United – 2
DEF – Phil Jagielka – Everton – 2
MID – Nacer Chadli (captain) – Tottenham – 6
MID – Roberto Firmino – Liverpool – 2
MID – Cheikhou Kouyate – West Ham – 3
FW – Troy Deeney – Watford – 5
FW – Harry Kane – Tottenham – 2
FW – Saido Berahino – West Brom – 1

NOTE: Phil Jagielka was automatically substituted for Raheem Sterling

Andy had a rough go of it as well. Joe Hart got a clean sheet but everyone else was rather average and only earned points based on being in the game.

5) Phillip – 35th place (+6 positions) – 44 points this week – 185 points total

GK – Simon Mignolet – Liverpool – 1
DEF – Luke Shaw – Manchester United – 2
DEF – Aleksandar Kolarov – Manchester City – 9
DEF – Vincent Kompany – Manchester City – 6
DEF – Joe Gomez – Liverpool – 1
DEF – Eliaquim Mangala – Manchester City – 5
MID – Andre Ayew – Swansea – 2
MID – Riyad Mahrez – Leicester City – 11
MID – Marc Albrighton – Leicester City – 1
FW – Bafetimbi Gomis – Swansea – 7
FW – Callum Wilson (captain) – AFC Bournemouth – 4

NOTE: Simon Mignolet was automatically substituted for Sergio Romero

Again, taking advantage of Manchester City clean sheets, Phillip has been slowly climbing up the table in recent weeks. Riyadh Mahrez has also been a great addition but something will need to be done about Vincent Kompany as he is out this weekend.
