In a quickly deleted tweet, Aston Villa defender Joleon Lescott took to Twitter to blast Aston Villa fans following a 6-0 pummeling at the hands of Liverpool. A season that has been full of low points, today may have been the lowest of points for an Aston Villa team who is on a one way track to relegation.
Fans have been upset at the team and been accusing the players of not trying, as fans argued with Micah Richards after their FA Cup game against Wycombe Wanderers. Today, after the game, Lescott went off on Villa fans who are upset at the team and tweeted the following (now deleted).
100%? Who’s @JoleonLescott kidding? pic.twitter.com/9Oo0xWwa5y

“Get stuffed with the abuse. We all gave 100%. I’m gonna go home to my model wife, big house, cars, and I’m gonna count all my money.”

Lescott then tweeted a pic of a nice Mercedes-Benz which he didn’t delete but was still very confusing and led to even more ridicule.

Lescott eventually apologized but didn’t really apologize for the tweet, just for the performance on the field. Which, I cannot tell if that apology is better or worse than apologizing for the tweet. He then claimed that the tweet involving the Mercedes-Benz was an accidental tweet was because his phone was in his pocket and tweeted while it was in his pocket. Which, in the scope of social media excuses for bad posts, it’s a new excuse but still not that believable.

Maybe Lescott should take his own advice and just not tweet after a game. It would save a whole lot of headache and ridicule.
