WATCH: Lights go out at ironically named ‘Stadium of Light’ during Sunderland-Hull City match

Sunderland played Hull City in the Stadium of Light in Premier League action and if you looked at the schedule before today, you probably weren’t expecting to pay any attention to this match.

But in all actuality, the fight between the 18th and 20th place teams in the Premier League was pretty memorable. Well, memorable in that the lights went out throughout the appropriately named Stadium of Light, causing a delay. Which is kind of fitting how Hull City and Sunderland have played this season.

The emergency lights came on and after a 10 minute delay, the lights were back on and play resumed. Sunderland would wind up dominating, winning 3-0. So maybe someone needs to trip the lights during every home match and they’ll turn their season around.
