Oh You Beauty!: Goals of the Week 2/9/2015

5. Daley Blind vs West Ham United

This late goal saved a vital point for Manchester United and it required a great follow up and a wonderful volley from Daley Blind.

4. Leo Messi vs Athletic Bilbao

This free kick goal from Messi shows just why he is considered the best player in the world. In that game alone, he had a great assist, he’s shown he can poach, and he’s an absolute danger from the free kick. There’s not much he can’t do.

3. Jessiva Houara vs USA Women Team

I’m not sure if this was meant to be a cross or if it was actually a shot, but regardless, it was a beaut of a goal. The shot/cross confused Harris, the American keeper, who I’m convinced thought it was a cross. From that angle, though, Houara did a great job of keeping the shot on frame.

2. Michael Bradley vs Chile

A goal directly from a corner is an incredibly rare thing. The bend required is extraordinary. even if you hit a shot that would go in, you still need to beat the defenders and the keeper. You won’t see many goals like this.

1. Cheikhou Kouyate vs Manchester United

This was a close call between the Bradley goal and this. I love this goal though. I really do. The close control, the powerful shot. The planets aligned for this to be just a wonderful goal.
