5. Andre-Pierre Gignac vs Gaudalajara
I’m not going to lie. There was some bad defending in the lead up to this goal. Gignac is ale to nutmeg the defender with ease. All that’s left is a simple tap-in for a goal. Quality dribbling and a cool finish that is slightly lessened by the poor defending.
4. Mauro Zarate vs Arsenal
Zarate does well to nick the ball off of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The shot on goal was a little weak, but makes it’s way through the Arsenal defense, beating Petr Cech for West Ham’s second.
3. Yaya Toure vs West Brom
What an opening weekend for Yaya Toure and Manchester City. Two goals for Yaya and three for City. Toure’s second was much better than the first. He receives the ball from Wilfred Bony and curls it into the net. It was a great shot and Toure is once again showing his class.
2. Ross Barkley vs Watford
It makes me cringe, but that goal is reminiscent of another Scouse midfielder in his prime. This one played in red, however. Seriously, though, Ross Barkley has many of the qualities Steve Gerrard has, especially in his prime. This goal specifically is vintage Gerrard, circa 2007.
1. Philippe Coutinho vs Stoke
Goals like this is why we started Oh You Beauty. Everything about this goal oozes class. Coutinho’s spin to lose the Stoke player, the close control. And that shot. Coutinho is quickly getting a reputation for only being able to score world class goals.
