Oh You Beauty!: Goals of the Week 8/18/2015

5. Arturo Vidal vs SG Dynamo Dresden

Sorry for the poor quality video, but this goal needed to make it on the list. Vidal’s chip here can only be described as ‘cheeky’. Well, I guess you could also call it magnificent. Vidal does well to make a run that leaves him completely open, but his chipped goal is what made it onto the list. It takes three Dresden players, including the keeper, out of the play entirely.

4. Dimitri Payet vs Leicester

Dimitri Payet is turning into a great signing by West Ham. We can expect a few more goals like this out of him this season. Arriving late into the box, Payet receives the ball. After a nice touch that brings him around the Leicester defender, Payet unleashes a powerful shot that hits home in the upper 90 of the goal.

3. Leo Messi vs Sevilla

Messi should almost be banned from Oh You Beauty. Not only does he score beautiful goals, he scores a lot of them. I could almost make a list of just Messi and Ronaldo goals each month and just call it a day. A freekick goal deserves a spot on this list though. Messi does well to curl the ball over the wall, from a good ways out, and past the keeper. Is there a type of goal Messi can’t score?

2. Sergio Aguero vs Chelsea

From one top class Argentinian to another. I’m going to level with everybody for a second. Aguero is one of my favorite players and with goals like this, it’s not hard to see why. Much like my other favorite player (Daniel Sturridge) he’s insanely injury prone. When he’s fully fit, though, this type of skill comes insanely easy to him. Remember, this is Chelsea he’s up against, not a lower league team. You would be forgiven for making that mistake given how easily Yaya Toure and Aguero one-two their way through the defense. The finish, while surrounded by five Chelsea players, is as cool as can be. Top class player in every respect.

1. Olivier Giroud vs Crystal Palace

Was there going to be another goal at the top of the list? Yeah, no. You can tell from the way Giroud was positioning his body that he was expecting the cross to come in front of him, thus allowing for a headed goal. The cross fell just behind him, causing Giroud to shift his body mid-run. The result is a scissor kick goal. Love it.
