Sunderland fans raise over £1500 for Dick Advocaat’s wife

Amid the news that Dick Advocaat has changed his mind and agreed to come back to Sunderland for the 2015-16 season after keeping them into the Premier League, Sunderland fans have taken up raising money to get flowers for Advocaat’s wife as a thank you for “letting” her husband postpone retirement for another year.

Towards the end of the season, Advocaat’s wife told the media that she wasn’t letting Dick spend more than a couple months abroad and that he must come back to the Netherlands to retire after the EPL season ended. Advocaat’s retirement lasted a couple weeks.

Now, Sunderland fans are raising money to get Advocaat’s wife some flowers. They set a goal of raising £150 for the flowers and any more money, according to the fundraising page, “will be split between the SAFC foundation and a charity of her choice.” Fans have currently raised over £1500.
