VIDEO: Gerard Deuofeu’s great individual effort puts Everton ahead

Today’s Capital One Cup quarterfinals got off to a great start for the English Premier League teams as three EPL teams faced off against non EPL teams. Within the first half hour of the games, Manchester City, Stoke and Everton were off with 1-0 leads and some dominating performances.

One performance in particular was particularly buzzing. Gerard Deuofeu scored on an incredible individual effort and put Everton up 1-0 over 2nd place Championship side Middlesbrough.

After stutter stepping like an NFL running back, Deuofeu intricately placed his way in and launched the shot from just outside the box. According to Squaka, this was Middlesbrough’s first goal conceded in 600 minutes in all competitions. Romelu Lukaku would score another to put Everton up 2-0 at half.
