VIDEO: Lionel Messi scores brilliant free kick goal from deep

If there weren’t any other reason to vote for Lionel Messi for the Ballon d’Or, Messi added another reason with this long range free kick that curved into the top right corner of the goal.

Going against Deportivo La Coruna, Barcelona was denied the goal for far longer than they probably expected to. But in the 39th minute, Messi took his left foot to the ball and from about 35 yards out, put Barcelona up.

Watching the video, the most surprising thing isn’t Messi’s goal. He scores beautiful goals like that all the time it’s borderline unfair. I’m most surprised because this is the quietest I ever heard Ray Hudson on a goal like that. Certainly a surprise for sure.
