VIDEO: Megan Rapinoe opens up the scoring for USWNT, Australia Equalizes

The United States began their World Cup against Australia and while Australia is putting up a fight, it was the Americans who scored first. Megan Rapinoe took advantage of a fortunate bounce but her strike from about 20 yards struck the back of the net to take the lead 1-0 in the 12th minute.

The lead was short lived however. Lisa De Vanna equalized just 15 minutes later due to a lapse in concentration by the USWNT defenders. De Vanna was wide open while taking her shot and while Hope Solo is good, there really wasn’t much she could do on that goal. That goal was on the defenders.
