VIDEO: Wayne Rooney appears on WWE Monday Night Raw, slaps Wade Barrett

Taking some time off during the international break, Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney decided to take in WWE’s Monday Night Raw with his son as they were in Manchester. Things took a turn as wrestler Wade Barrett had a bone to pick with the all time England scoring leader.

Barrett, a legit Preston North End fan, got into it with a ringside Rooney by claiming he wasn’t “championship material” (which isn’t quite correct but okay) and that Rooney’s son experiences his father fail on the pitch every week. Again, that’s not quite correct but it’s a promo for WWE so whatever. It’s meant to make Barrett the bad guy, it worked.

Anyway, after Barrett said what he said in the ring, he came down to go face-to-face with Rooney. The segment ended with Rooney slapping Barrett and getting him back for those comments to the delight of the Manchester crowd.
