Goals upon goals headline Champions League action to conclude matchday two

1) Biggest winner –  The fans

You and I were in for a treat today. A total of 28 goals were scored today and if you were lucky enough to have Fox Sports’ MulitMatch 90 either on Fox Sports Plus or Fox Soccer2Go, you saw all the action without having to change the channel.

2) Standout performer – Moussa Dembele (Celtic)

Many people had a lot of fun at Celtic’s expense for losing to Lincoln Red Imps in Gibraltar. But deserved credit, they took the lead three times against a more talented Manchester City squad and gave Pep Guardiola his first non win in his Manchester City tenure. The leader of Celtic has been 20-year-old Moussa Dembele. He scored two goals (first was offside) today and now has eight goals on the season.

3) Biggest loser –  Fernando Torres (Atletico Madrid)

Fernando Torres has been a bit of a punchline for pretty much the last six years. The player who showed so much promise has been a shell of his former self all this time. It’s not a shock that he had more than a few opportunities to score and didn’t because it’s been like that for a while. But at the same time, it’s pretty sad to see.

4) Best tweet

5) Biggest surprise – Top teams struggling

At one point in the day, PSG, Barcelona and Bayern Munich were all losing and Manchester City was tied. PSG and Barcelona got it back and won while Man City kept the draw. But despite all that, teams like Ludogorets and Borussia Monchengladbach sure made things interesting.

6) Worst moment – Arturo Vidal (Bayern Munich)

What was Arturo Vidal thinking? Bayern Munich is already down 1-0, they are nearing the end of the game and then Vidal just plows through Felipe Luis to give up a penalty in a very avoidable play.

7) Best goal –  Moussa Dembele (Celtic)

Of all the goals scored, this was the best. Right as the second half began, Celtic’s Moussa Dembele scored his second goal off of a bicycle kick against Manchester City.

8) Extra time

After two matchdays, we’re starting to figure out who is breaking out of the pack to go to the knockout stage. Teams with two wins in two matches include Napoli, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Leicester City and it very much looks like they have one foot into the next stage. For everyone else, they still have a ways to go to go further in this tournament.
