EPL goalkeeper cycling across USA to raise money for kids charity

Stoke City and Danish goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen announced that he will be fulfilling a dream of his this summer, to cycle across the United States and raise money for charity. He will ride almost 4,000 miles from Oregon to New Hampshire. The 38 year old goalkeeper said that this has been planned for a couple years and has been training to ride across the country.

Sorensen will be raising money for Kids Aid in Denmark. Their website is in Danish but thanks to Google Translate, it appears as if Kids Aid is a charity that is similar to Children’s Miracle Network and Make-A-Wish in the United States. A charity that focuses on making kids who are suffering serious illnesses as comfortable as possible and do things for those children in order to put a smile on their face as they go through difficult times.

Sorensen will be traveling 3,900 miles from Astoria, Oregon to Portsmouth, New Hampshire over 46 days. He took to Twitter to announce the tour and linked to his fundraising page to those who wish to donate.

As of now, Sorensen’s fundraising page has raised 11,750 Danish Krone which equals around $1,700 US. It is just a little over 10% of his overall goal and there are 113 days left in the campaign. Here’s hoping Sorensen exceeds his fundraising goals, stays safe on his journey across the United States and enjoys the sights he will expect to see across the country.
