5. Manchester United 1-3 Manchester City – March 27, 1968

There’s unfortunately no video for this but this game was important because this result put Man City over the top and they won their 2nd first division title in team history over United. City was a great team in the 60’s and 70’s. They may not have been on the level of Man U, Liverpool or Leeds but they were consistently near the top and were winning trophies.

4. Manchester United 2-1 Manchester City – February 12, 2011

The game was great for many reasons, but it’s mainly remembered for Wayne Rooney’s bicycle kick. One of the best goals in the Manchester Derby and in Rooney’s career.

3. Manchester United 0-1 Manchester City – April 27, 1974

This game begins and ends with Denis Law. Denis Law started at City and then played for United for 11 years. After United, he came back to City and was playing for City in this game. Man U needed to win in order to avoid relegation and Law dropped the dagger on a backheel goal. Law felt horrible thinking that his backheel goal sent down the team that made him a legend that he didn’t celebrate and walked off the field. Law retired from the game, never to play again. United fans rushed the field as a result and the match was stopped. The score stood and Man U would get relegated that season.
