What’s the best development plan for Cameron Carter-Vickers?

It’s one of the older questions in world soccer: What’s the best way to develop a talented young player? Today, we’re asking it about Tottenham and U.S. international center back Cameron Carter-Vickers. He’s an 18-year-old who’s been on the books at Spurs since he was 11. He was born in England, the son of an […]

What’s the deal with Chelsea’s run of form lately?

Chelsea have made an explosive return to form in recent weeks after an indifferent start to life under Antonio Conte. Since the beginning of October, Chelsea haven’t allowed a goal in the league, while scoring 16. What could possibly have turned them around so dramatically? Could it be the teams that they have played in this […]

Liverpool is scoring by committee and it has sent them to the top of the table

In Liverpool’s 6-1 demolition of Watford on Sunday, the club featured five different goal scorers. Not exactly big news, but with Liverpool, this has been a theme this season. Liverpool has opted more for scoring by committee as opposed to having a typical striker there to finish chances. As a result, the club is at the […]

WATCH: Chelsea score twice in a minute to take commanding lead over Everton

Chelsea and Everton had the prospect of a high scoring game. In the last four Premier League matches between the two teams, they scored a total of 20 goals. So while there weren’t any goals for the first 19 minutes, Chelsea took care of that with two goals within a minute. .

Who needs to win the North London Derby more: Arsenal or Tottenham

The North London Derby is almost here, which will see old rivals Arsenal and Tottenham duke it out yet again. Going into the game, one team’s form, Arsenal, has been absolutely blistering, which sees them tied for the top of the table, while the other, Spurs, has been lethargic for a few weeks. While this game […]

Fear Factor: The importance of intimidation when playing against a big club

While tactics and playing styles are often discussed as important reasons for specific teams winning or not winning, one factor that has been pushed to the wayside of late is the concept of the fear factor. This is possibly because it is something of an intangible, the fear factor is nonetheless a very real, very […]

Should Lee Grant try and get a permanent move to Stoke City?

On September 18th, Stoke City lost 4-1 to Crystal Palace, their fourth loss in their first five games of the 2016/17 Premier League season. To make matters worse, this was the third time in the opening five games that Stoke had conceded four goals in a game. Their goal differential was an abysmal -11. While […]

Arsenal have a good problem with a healthy Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez

During Saturday’s demolition of Sunderland, Arsenal saw Oliver Giroud return to the score sheet for the first time since last season. The Frenchman scored twice in a matter of minutes after coming on in the second half. He has been out injured for nearly a month. Arsenal won 4-1, with Alexis Sanchez scoring the team’s […]

Watch: Olivier Giroud scores a brace minutes after coming on the pitch

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud opened his account in the 2016-2017 season with a brace just minutes after being subbed on. Arsenal had just surrendered a penalty against Sunderland to draw the two teams level. Arsene Wenger responded by bringing on his French center forward. Giroud, who has been dealing with injuries, hadn’t scored a Premier […]

Do Spurs score enough goals to win the Premier League?

Currently, Tottenham sit in 5th place, a singular point off the top of the table. They were the first team to bloody the soccer gods that Manchester City seemed to be. That said, they have only scored 13 goals in 9 games. That’s just over a goal a game (1.4 gpg). While they have only […]

Sunderland’s late match woes seem set to doom them to relegation

By all accounts, Sunderland isn’t a very good team. With only two points out of nine matches, the club sits at the bottom of the Premier League. David Moyes, who took over as manager this summer might not last the season, but he’s been on the wrong end of some pretty bad luck this year. […]

Can Manchester City’s defense unhinge their title challenge?

Once again, Manchester City’s defense has let them down through a silly mistake. This time it was John Stones, whose no look pass set up Nathan Redmond beautifully for an opening Southampton goal. This defender assist is almost as bad as the Lucas Leiva assist on Jamie Vardy in the Liverpool-Leicester game a few weeks […]

What is wrong with Manchester United?

At the end of August, I wrote that after starting the season with three wins in three games, Manchester United should fire Jose Mourinho at that time instead of waiting for things to inevitably turn south. It certainly didn’t take long for that to happen as Old Trafford has essentially been a disaster zone since September. […]

WATCH: Chelsea’s Pedro scores within 30 seconds against Manchester United

The anticipated matchup between Chelsea and Manchester United got off to an unexpected start. What was likely going to be a defensive battle between two defensive managers, a goal was scored within 30 seconds and likely forced some excitement throughout the game. After a defending shambles by the Manchester United backline and leading goalkeeper David […]

Jose Mourinho makes his return to Stamford Bridge for the first time since managing Chelsea

Only once before has Jose Mourinho entered Stamford Bridge as a visitor. In 2010, his Inter Milan team Chelsea in the last 16 of the Champions League on the way to winning the competition. Now as manager of Manchester United, Mourinho heads back to the Bridge this weekend to take on his former employers. An early […]
